Trailbreak – Wight Diamond Festival

30 05 2007

After all the crappy weather recently we were really looking forward to a long weekend away on the Isle of Wight, two enduros about 50k each over two days with live bands and a bit of camping thrown in for good measure. Joined by Muddy@rsers Ollie and Sally we were looking forward to a good weekend of biking & laughs. Friday night we sat out under the stars, chatting, laughing and munching chocolate til gone midnight (our idea of race prep!!)

St Leonards Forest & Tillgate Woods Ride Report

13 05 2007

Well, don’t know about you but I thought that was quite an epic adventure today. We all knew it was going to be tough but the rain and mud just upped the anti a couple more notches.

Didn’t put us off though did it ? 17 Muddy@rsers really is a fantastic turnout in such awful weather I was so impressed to see us all there in the pouring rain. We honestly thought we’d be on our own cos it was tipping it down, cheers guys you made it all worthwhile.

The Quantocks

9 05 2007

Rick dropping in Hodders CoomeEarly May Bank Holiday, there I was with a new bike begging to be ridden so we’re off for a weekend of fun at The Quantocks, Somerset.

Not been there before, then you should. This little collection of hills (running off a spiney ridge) isn’t very big, but what it has hiding in them is mile after mile of fantastically varied trails that are a mountainbiker’s dream if you love trails that are all natural & free !

Club Ride: St. Leonards Forest, Horsham, 13 May 07

4 05 2007

If you love very tight, narrow, twisty, flowy, technically challenging woodland singletrack then this is the ride for you.

This is not a ride for the fainthearted though and at 22 miles it is a bit of a killer, with just over 600mtrs of climbing those tempting little trails are deceiving. But we think it’s worth it and to add to the fun there are a few water splashes and logs / bridges to negotiate and some steep loose decents all through beautiful bluebells – nice !

It’s safe to say a good level of fitness and technical ability up and downhill is essential for this ride to keep the Group together. So, if you’re not confident descending on technical singletrack then maybe this ride isn’t one for you, sorry !

Mileage: 22
Technicality: High
Climbing: 600mtrs plus
Food Stop: None – bring PLENTY of your own supplies please
Time: 10.30am
Where: Roosthole Car Park, Hammerpond Lane, Horsham
