Club Ride – Whiteways Loop, Arundel

3 01 2007

Led by Muddy@rser Mike (founder of MTB Nomads in Brighton), this loop takes in lots of singletrack through the woods leading from Whiteways Car Park (a well known biker stop & cafe) near Arundel, West Sussex. No tea & cake stop en-route so bring plenty of energy & drink supplies. Hopefully the cafe (well hut !) will still be open when we get back though 🙂

Mike writes about the ride;

“The route is approximately 15 miles all off-road, made up of at least 60% woodland singletrack with a quite a few uphills, the rest is woodland bridleway. The majority of the singletrack is not too technical and requires gentle pedalling (or hard pedalling if you want to go fast). There are a couple of up-hills, but nothing like SDW rides, there’s also a couple of downs that can be blasted. The trail is 100% natural and all technical sections have an alternative route to the side; however you should be confident of riding your bike over small fallen trees and similar obstacles 6-8 inch diameter (or you can always push 🙂 . We should get round in 3 to 4 hours no problem “

Directions: Whiteways Car Park is off the large roundabout where A29 & A284 join. Looking at map link below it is shown as ‘parking & picnic area’ on left in ‘Houghton Forest’. If you see loads of motorbikes you are in the right car park.
