Night Riding – fancy having a go ?

10 01 2008

A healthy group of us have started night riding during the winter months to keep up our morale and fitness, oh and because it’s damn good fun. I know a few Muddy@rsers have expressed an interest but haven’t got lights and don’t want to layout for decent lights without having ever given nightriding a try. After all, they are expensive and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

So a plan has been hatched. I’ve contacted Tristore in Eastbourne and Freedom Bikes in Brighton and both are prepared to offer Muddy@rsers demo sets of lights free of charge. This is great news because you can now give it a go, see if you like it and then consider your purchase. They’ll even give you the usual 10% discount off any purchase you make too.

Our regular night for riding is Wednesdays and meets usually take place at either Devils Dyke/Stanmer Park, Brighton or Crowlink, Nr East Dean (but others have been added too). The riding takes in singletrack and bridleway in the forests and Downs surrounding these areas and nothing is ever ‘dodgy’, although occasionally it might be a little bit ‘cheeky’ 🙂

Want to give it a go? Then get in contact with Tristore or Freedom and get your demo set booked (bear in mind though you will need to pre-book and get them charged at least a day before the ride so ring in plenty of time).

Tristore, Grove Road, Eastbourne. Tel (01323) 417071 (ask for Simon or Lawrence). Exposure Turbo available (06 edition so not as bright as the new Maxx but gives a good idea), ID will be needed (driving licence etc) and a fully refundable card swipe deposit to secure the loan.

Freedom Bikes, 45 George Street, Brighton. Tel: (01273) 681698 (ask for Alan/Ben). Exposure Maxx (07 edition) and Cateye Double / Triple Spots available. £50 fully refundable deposit on a swipecard will be needed and ID.

As usual no one gets left behind on our rides and the aim of the game is a fun, social ride at an average mileage of 10-12. Keep your eyes peeled on the forum for the next ride and get on the phone to book those lights ! Think how smug you’ll feel riding your bike while everyone else is stuck at home watching Eastenders !
