Club Ride: South Downs – We’re Back on Sat 26 Jan !

17 01 2008

Hopefully I’ve got some right cracker rides in the pipeline for 2008 and our first one kicks off on SATURDAY 26 January. Starting from Bo Peep Car Park on the top of the Downs near Selmeston, East Sussex.

After a run of really fun singletrack rides taking us to the end of 2007 in the lesser muddy areas of the South East (well, excluding the last ride that is!!) we’re returning to the South Downs. This ride is pure XC taking in some classic Downs bridleways which of course means climbing so don’t say I didn’t warn you! I estimate the ride to be about 15 miles. It WILL be muddy and possibly slippy on the good ole chalk, but it’ll be a fab ride that’ll kick-start everyone’s fitness for the year to come.

Date: Saturday 26 January
Time: 10.30am

Where: Bo Peep Car Park Click here for map

Trains: Berwick (you will have a steep hill to climb or arrange to meet us in Alfriston in the valley)

Directions: Take A27. If travelling East (i.e towards Polegate) after Garage and Barley Mow at Selmeston, take next small turning on RH side s/posted Bo Peep. If travelling West (ie towards Lewes) take 3rd LH turning after Drusillas roundabout. Follow narrow / steep lane all the way to top, car park on LH side (car park is small so pls get as close as possible to each other)

Food: Bring plenty of stuff to eat and drink (there is a Deli in Alfriston which should be open and we can stop quickly on outward journey if needs be), otherwise we can stop in Alfriston again on way back either at the Deli or Badgers depending on numbers/weather/time. Be warned though you will be climbing back to the car on a full stomach !

For anyone new to Muddy@rse who’s thinking of coming along for the first time, so long as you have a bit of fitness you will be OK there’s nothing technical to worry about and if you go careful the chalk is fine). As always, no-one will get left behind, the pace is sociable and non-competitive with the aim being having fun with likeminded people in a mixed group. So let’s get the New Year ride calendar started and hope to see you on the 26th (don’t forget that’s a SATURDAY!)

Cheers Lisa, Club Founder
